Frequently Asked Questions
What is Supemtek®?
Supemtek® is a recombinant quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIVr) made without eggs. It’s designed to help protect against four circulating flu strains each season.
How much does it cost?
£22.50 — includes consultation, vaccine, and vaccination record.
Who can have it?
Adults 18 years and over. If you’re eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine, we recommend you book via the NHS.
Is it suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Flu vaccination is recommended in pregnancy. Supemtek® is a non-live vaccine. We can vaccinate during pregnancy and breastfeeding; if you have specific concerns, discuss them
with your midwife/GP or our clinician at your appointment.
I have an egg allergy — can I have Supemtek®?
Yes. Supemtek® is egg-free (not manufactured in eggs), making it a suitable option for people with egg allergy.
Can I have flu and COVID vaccines together?
Yes — they can be given on the same day at different sites. If you’d like both, let us know when booking.
How long does protection last?
Protection develops over 10–14 days and covers the current flu season. You’ll need a new jab each year as strains change.
What if I’m unwell on the day?
If you have a high fever or feel acutely unwell, postpone until you’re better. Mild colds are usually fine — ask our team.
Can it cause flu?
No. Supemtek® does not contain live virus and cannot cause flu.
What if I’ve already had flu this year?
Vaccination is still recommended — there are multiple strains each season, and the vaccine covers more than one.
I’m on blood thinners / have a bleeding disorder — is it safe?
Usually yes. We use a small-gauge needle and apply firm pressure afterwards. Please tell the vaccinator if you’re on anticoagulants or have a bleeding disorder.
I have a history of Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS).
Speak to our clinician or your GP first. We’ll complete an individual risk–benefit assessment.
Any reasons I shouldn’t have it? (Contraindications)
Which strains are included this season?
Supemtek® follows the WHO-recommended strains for the current Northern Hemisphere season (two A and two B). Exact strain names vary annually; ask our team if you’d like the
full batch leaflet on the day.
How is my vaccination recorded?
You’ll receive a vaccination record. With your consent, we can notify your GP or employer/occupational health.
Do you offer workplace vaccinations?
Yes — on-site flu clinics for businesses are available. Contact us for a quote and scheduling.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Please give 24 hours’ notice to amend or cancel your appointment so we can offer the slot to someone else.
